Server Save

I know in the previous post last Friday I was a bit upset at this solo quest and still believe they should of well as made that unlock the server quest as well... But hey, who am I to judge. I just read about the Ascendance guild on IPYM and all I can say is "nice video" and that it's great that Ascendance just got a lot of stuff handed to them for downing Venekor once again for this live event. I'm definitaly happy for them yet sad for all those who was not or will not be able to do the solo quest. HAH! Now I get it make solo quest easy and the server quest a little bit harder so that some could get it done before it's unlocked. I belive that after seeing this the unlock server quest was also to short. I mean common I was sick for months! Though I can say I think I will recant somewhat, I did enjoy the solo quest but felt talking to the Chief was a little bit lacking. Overall I'm happy that my next to favorite race is now playable for me.

TIP 2# If making a quest never make a special event quest to do the same thing you did for any other live event quest or big quest that involve the same steps. i.e.- kill Venekor

The Questing

SOE's grand idea has not been so grand if you ask me when it comes to the quest to save the Frogloks. I have no love for this easy and somewhat boring quest, it's useless they should of just gave us the damn frogs to begin with.

I began the froglok quest last night just like everyone else on my server which lead me to think why if everyone is doing this solo quest really care to unlock them for the server? Because this damn quest is way to easy... I mean really within 6 hours people were already making youngling frogloks. It was a pathetic atemp at doing something good but hey you know /duel and the PVP for the new expantion is somewhat more important so why waste any real time on this quest. If you haven't figured it out I am quite upset this quest was so how do you say ignoramus..

Com'mon do I need to help save a love relationship, find a doll, and figure out a riddle to make the Chief happy... Give me a break! I know there was a little thought put into this but it seemed to have been slapped together over a drunken stupor in the bottom of Sony's basement by the janitors climbing the corporate ladder.

Now for the Good: I did enjoy the froglok ghost Giilbi or whatever his name was. Um yep that's about it.

Next time you plan on doing something for the people and expect those of us to actually enjoy a quest that seemed 6 months in the making at least give a sense of urgency a sense of bravado a sense that you may not make it out alive. I give them a C for effort an D for a crappy quest overall I would like to think they put effort into the live event for the server but, sadly I'm afraid it will be done before the weekend is up.

Today?

Ok, I logged onto EQ2 this morning and noticed it was loading LU9 which is to my surprise becuase if it was me I would push it back till this evening. I mean why not they pushed it back so many times why not half a day as well. I am just hoping I can begin a long awaited quest to help my Frogie friends find there way back to Castleview, Qeynos. Anyhow I will keep the massess aprised as to what it takes to get the single verstion done and hopefully by Monday I will be finished.

I did however get to read Aggro's post on Frogloks and he has a few links that seem to have some info as well as some fun stuff to do. I am hoping I can fill in any blanks to this quest but, I really do hope this is an engrossing quest both for solo and the raid live event.... I swear as I have previously said if this dont live up to what they hype is... HEADS WILL ROLL!

Have a nice Thursday.

Fruklok

It's been a long time coming and today is the day right? Wrong, push it out 6 months a month then a day what the hell. I've been one of the patient few that figures the longer has to be better and with that I've waited and waited for these damn amphibious beings from the swamp to be playable. So I logged on this morning to see in the patch notes "Frogloks are waiting to be helped on their journey home" to no avail there was no patch, so I figured I'd go look at the boards. Nope not there either though I'm sure by now people are starting to fly off their rockers due to the next push back. This has to be worse then an expantion with really bad bugs and implementation, but not worse then screwing over EQ1 with the teleporting books.

Here is a rule to live by as a game maker, designer, programmer... Don't put dead lines ever! At least don't tell the general public that it's going live this day and month because guess what, we will hold you to that. I mean it wasn't bad enough that frogloks weren't in yet but you let people wasting countless hours try'n to figure out this quest that has yet to be implement. All I'm saying is that this quest better be involved and have a wonderful sequence of events for us to feel thatall this is warranted.

/Duel

I know, I'm not the first at annoucing this but it goes along with my earlier post . I think this will be a warranted and great experience to finally have this implemented into the EQ2 culture. It has been a while but I would at least want to have the ability to kick someone's Arse that pisses me off, or show up some friends with my Shiny Saber of Friendly kills. As for the nay Sayers complaining about OMG they wont quit spamming /duels to me /petition : Hey SOE can you hold my hand while I waste more CR time complaining bout the fact I don't know how to ignore my chat...

Anyhow, in EQ1 blue and Red servers never had a /duel problem. Only time I got /duel'd is either when I initiated due to an ignorant, or rude players, and sometimes when I may have overstepped my boundary with someone else. Though I believe this is more a blessing then a curse due to the nature you don't have to participate, and I do so hope it annouces: NEWB_01 has ran like a cowardy dog in OOC when they run to zone. I will have to pay up to a friend of mine if there are many /duel problems but I strongly believe this will be little to no problems at all. Scouts Sanctuary also has a little write up from a little testing of this on... yup you guessed it Test, nice read.

Aggro Me has a wonderfull review and some insightfully reading on this new /duel system and an insightful review of the history of /dueling. Tomacco Yumm!

VanVid

Here recently we went through E3 2005 and there was a major huff about Vanguard. Now I wouldn't call myself a Vanboi but I'm quite excited to see how they are doing. There are a few videos flying around here and there but This has to be the best art form of video collage put together to date of VSOH. Also, Here is a small clip from the past E3 2004, I believe it has potential and as you can see things are shaping up... Now for beta!

PVP

Ok anyone who knows me knows that I'm a PVPer, it's not that I'm a person who likes to kill but I sure do love a good fight agisnt someone that has a brain. I started on a Blue server Tholuxe Palles as a lonely mage and worked my way up through the ranks and fought many of Orc, traveled vastly in peace, and SOW potioned my way to safety. Yet, a year later I had a sense of emptiness the feeling of not being alive, then EQ started to fade because my adrenalin started to fade.

BLAM! all of a sudden Sullon Zek came to the scene, what a wondrous and beautifull day that was. Everything was new and with the idea of anarchy no rule set server with endless possiblies till Fansy but, alas I didn't fret. I kept on powering a mighty Pally and ruled many of the fights that were engaging with real human AI. Now I know there were other Zeks but it was to my impression these were somewhat clique and guildy with no sense of angst. These days today are hard lived without PVP.

I didn't go out and do Un-Pally like things mind you such as, PK level 9's all day and I didn't go pick any fights unless they were bulling around Goods, sometimes newts. Though that is for a different story. I want a PVP centric server because I want the heart race, I want the pain, I really want the paranoia. These don't exist to much in PVE at the moment, at least not like when I first went up against a Orc_pawn_05 now that was a rush. Now mind you I do still love PVE servers for those days I don't want to be bothered but, I do so love a good unplanned fight.

Now I am hearing they will have special servers that are PVP in the future of EQ2 I'm stoked. This is what a few thousand people that didn't play EQ2 for the simple fact there was no PVP has been waiting for but, will it be just in time for the life of EQ2's turn around or death? We shall have to wait to see.

Now lets hope the implement a reason for us to not want to die and remove all clicky bells from the two citys then the game will be a much better one.

Star Wars Weekend

Aren't weekends great? This one was a blast for me it was my b-day weekend and as usually, I get to see StarWars like I've done since 1980 on the weekend after my B-day. God I love May it seems there's always something going on in the onset of the Summer. Well I have to say there maybe ***spoilers*** so if you have not seen Star Wars you may not want to continue reading.

Episode III was sweet, the best of the newer Star Wars films and in first or second place for best one ever. I've not yet figured out which I like better I do still llove Episode VI however, I'm hard pressed to choose. Ok at the expense of sounding like a geek I have to say I enjoyed every minute of Episode III the sound, the vision, and the story telling aspect of the movie. The special effects "don't even get my started" made every part of that movie believable. If this movie don't win any little gold dudes then Star Wars should at least win for special effects.

Skywalker and Obi-wan's lightsaber fight was the best since.... Well it's never been this good. I know in Episode II Yoda's fight was sweet but way to short in comparison to his fight in this one, DAMN is all I have'ta say. Good line "Failed I did, Into exile I must go" I believe that for all those out there that have a dogma about Yoda is to serious in these last 3 movies, should go into exile yourself for 20 years on a swamp planet and see how sane you'd be when someone would come to visit.

Best scene IMHO is the Yoda Slam... When he goes in the senators Quarters and the two Red Guards are slammed up against the wall. HA! Great stuff.

Anyhow, I love how they put the pieces together and make you feel as if the story is now complete. Well there are a few minor details that I believe the new live action series and the cartoon will answer. I for one can't find it in me to read Star Wars books ever.

Off Chest... Now

Ok for sometime now I've been reading about tradeskills in EQ, EQ2 and Vanguard and I am kinda tired of how they all hype it up as bigger badder or better. Now granted some persons may love to do the daily grind of place click and see or click wait for encounter and then push a corresponding a button then BAMB! you have what you wanted either the item or experience. I didn't include Vanguard as I will get to that here shortly.

Ok now the premise of this in EQ was wonderfully done but boorishly hard and stupid on so many levels. They placed to much to chance and nothing to skill which in turn pissed people off or was bored at doing shawl 6 thirteen times. That's just down right Irritating, Now I know it's dated and EQ2 has in ways updated the click and pray effort but there system is even more boring.

I find it difficult to continue after a month of doing tradeskills in EQ2. It will be God's blessing to push my armorer past 31 what a miricle that will be. I've tried to push myself through the button-mash and collect item phase but damn it's so boring even with special events. Harvesting is cool but I do belief rare's should drop from Mobs and come from quests as well. Not like say you get a Fur from TS and it drops from named mob in TS also but say Rare_mob_01 drops a Simpian fur that is the best you can get for that tier and that's the only way you can get this. Maybe it's just me but everyone is starting to look the same and nothing seems to be OMFG that rare. I believe they took a good step in making the system into you acomplish by your skill alone but, there has to be another way to cut the boredom.... Jezz at least make all the tradeskill instances different visualy then when I got to Blacksmith I have different scenery.

Now for Vanguard all I have to say is we will have to see from what I've been reading here it's promising. http://www.vanguardcrafters.com/ I will post more on this later.

Now hear this

I am an Avid player of anything to do with online mainly EQII although I have my roots in EQ from 2000. So I do belive I have some working knowlege in what I know in this field. Though I'll never claim that I can't learn anything new. I hope you all will enjoy my Post's here and there.

Today is the day

Ok this is my first Blog post ever and I will have to give it to Aggro me. Some how he inspired me to start my own opionated posting while doing it at work. So If this becomes somewhat boring or outlandish then suck it up. This will be a work in progress and I hope to have a decent blogger for the future to come.
